The Linden Free Public Library, located at 31 East Henry Street in Linden, New Jersey, is a cornerstone of community learning and engagement. Established in 1928, the library has evolved to serve over 30 municipalities in Union County, including Linden, Elizabeth, Clark, Roselle, and Plainfield. The current facility, opened in June 2010, offers a modern space equipped with free Wi-Fi, internet terminals, and a comprehensive catalog of over 91,000 bibliographic records. With approximately 16,662 registered resident borrowers, the library provides a wide array of services, including youth and adult programs, health services, periodicals, local archives, and digital resources. The library is also a member of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Associated Libraries (MURAL), allowing patrons to borrow materials from over 40 participating libraries in Union and Middlesex Counties. Operating hours are Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; it remains closed on Sundays.
